Ingredients you need to cook Cheera Thoran:

Red Spinach (Cheera) – 1 whole cup, nicely chopped

Shredded coconut – ½ cup

Turmeric Powder ( Manjalpodi) – ¼ tsp

Cumin (Jeerakam) – A pinch

Coconut Oil – As required

Mustard (Kaduk) – 1 tbsp

Onionz – 2 small-sized, finely chopped

Green Chilly – 2 nos.

Curry leaves – 5-6 nos.

How to cook:

Heat some coconut oil in a flat-bottomed pan and add mustard seed and curry leaves to it. After they have crackled, add chopped onions and green chillies. Sauté them till the onions become golden brown. To this add grated coconut and keep stirring them till the raw smell is gone. Add salt to taste and finally add the chopped cheera to it. Cook on low flame for a while. Once it is completely cooked, increase the flame and let the water drain completely. Once all the water is gone, turn off the stove. Now you can enjoy this delicious cheera thoran with hot rice and rasam.
